Penelope Henain

About the Author

Penelope Henain is a proud Australian and descendant of the Widjabal-Wiabal clan of Bundjalung Country. Having endured a traumatic childhood and witnessed unimaginable hardships, she made it her mission to break the cycle of abuse and create a safe, loving home for her children. Her longstanding dedication to child safety was formally recognized by the Victorian Minister of Health in 2006 for her contributions to a child-friendly community.

Now, with her children grown, Penelope channels her lived experience, academic knowledge, and fierce advocacy into storytelling, using the power of words to expose hidden truths and challenge long-standing taboos. An advocate for human rights and social justice, she brings her expertise as a Registered Nurse, Mental Health Practitioner, Executive Producer, and Poet into her work, blending love, humor, bravery, and compassion to uplift the communities she serves.

Penelope’s impact extends beyond healthcare—she is committed to supporting film & television, a powerful platform to bring written words to life. Through her writing, she amplifies the voices of those who have been silenced, believing that every story deserves to be heard.

She considers it a privilege to be a voice for those who have been denied the truth for too long.

Her debut novel, BECAUSE SHE LIED is a psychological thriller that fearlessly explores the cost of silence and the power of truth.

Warning: They asked for truth-telling—well, here it is. Penelope Henain does not hold back. She speaks the truths others fear to say, unflinching and unapologetic. Her storytelling shatters silence, exposes hidden realities, and forces the world to face what it would rather ignore. Brace yourself.
